Like a pearl surrounded by coral reefs and blue lagoons, this uniquely featured, environmentally friendly and sparsely populated island of Ukulhas sits in the middle of Alif Alif atoll in a picture perfect setting with painted hues of blues and greens. The main attraction of this island includes the spotlessly clean and vast beach. The giant manta rays, turtles, zebra sharks and reef sharks can be a feast to your eyes. You can enjoy the quiet environment and the island life with your family and loved ones through an unforgettable stay in Ukulhas.
Ukulhas is located 70km east from the capital city Male’ at the edge of North Ari atoll of Maldives. The population is about 1000 people according to census of 2014. The length of the island is 1 kilometer and its width is 250 meters.
The Maldives is blessed with a tropical climate all year round, making it a popular destination around the globe. The islands’ location near the equator guarantees warm temperatures with an average of 7-8 hours of sunshine every day. It rains from time to time, but rain is usually short lived.
The easiest way to reach the island is by ferry from Male’ which operates every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Another option is to board a speedboat. The speedboats operate everyday morning and evening. The timings may vary depending on the speedboat that you choose. An advantage of traveling by speedboat is that the duration from Male’ to Ukulhas Island is 1.5 hours. This is shorter than the duration of a public ferry, which takes about 4.5 hours to reach.
